Candidiasis involves an infection with one or more species of disease-causing yeast. Their allergy-inducing (antigenic) nature, especially Candida albicans, can promote numerous allergic reactions within the body. Moreover, their chronic presence within the body promotes an abundance of inflammation, which only escalates the bodily disturbances. When you add in the contributions of other infectious invaders like harmful parasites, bacteria, molds, and/or viruses that may be present, the internal disturbances escalate.
It is common to have some disease-causing yeast residing within your gut. When there is a sufficient population of beneficial (good) bacteria, the disease-causing yeast are suppressed and do not cause harm. However, exposures to the various risk factors that can disturb and kill the beneficial bacteria enable the disease-causing yeast (and other infectious invaders) to reproduce and colonize the gut’s interior. This can also occur on other mucosal surfaces, most notably the respiratory tract.
Basically, there are three stages:
1. “Gastrointestinal candidiasis” occurs when disease-causing yeast colonize the gut interior.
2. “Invasive candidiasis” starts when the disease-causing yeast invade into the gut wall and colonize it.
3. “Systemic candidiasis” involves the disease-causing yeast progressing to invade and enter the blood, where they can travel throughout the body and take up residence wherever conditions permit.
To add to the confusion of this condition, there is often a mixed infection with more than one species and strain (variant) of disease-causing yeast. This contributes to the variety of symptoms and illness, expressions and manifestations, that occur among candidiasis sufferers.
The chronic presence of one or more species of disease-causing yeast, along with other infectious invaders (microorganisms) within the body, will disturb the nervous, endocrine (hormone), and immune systems to varying degrees. This adversely affects the metabolism of candidiasis sufferers.
So, if you are a candidiasis sufferer, or someone that has frequent, recurrent, or chronic medical maladies, and want to find a better way to address your health problems, please consider that candidiasis might be your real problem. Do not hesitate to share this information with your physician.
