It is one thing to be a candidiasis sufferer. It is another for a physician to make a formal diagnosis. Since a single, infallible test does not exist to make the diagnosis, candidiasis is often overlooked, ignored, or confused. This makes therapy difficult and sometimes impossible.
The good news is that most sufferers can be easily diagnosed. Initially, they should receive a thorough medical history and complete physical exam by a candidiasis-minded healthcare provider. In fact, the history and physical exam are often more revealing than the most sophisticated test. Yet, this alone will not cut it.
Most physicians and sufferers want more definitive proof. Numerous tests can assist in identifying the presence of one or more species of disease-causing yeast and reveal the extent of the infection. In addition, a variety of disturbances tend to accompany candidiasis and should be considered as well: malabsorption and metabolic abnormalities are common, as well as disturbances involving the nervous, endocrine (hormone), and immune systems.
Since candidiasis has two sides, infectious and allergic, addressing a sufferer’s allergies is essential. The infectious and allergic consequences of disease-causing yeast would seem to be bad enough, but the situation is often worse.
Most sufferers frequently have one or more other infectious invaders present, including harmful parasites, bacteria, molds, and/or viruses. Because of their ability to exacerbate illness and directly cause harm, a search for these troublemakers must be undertaken and appropriately addressed.
So, if you are a candidiasis sufferer, you need to appreciate the full extent of your condition, both its infectious and allergic consequences. A complete workup will reveal all your infectious invaders and any accompanying disturbances.
If you do not want to throw your money away on unnecessary tests, consult with a knowledgeable and experienced candidiasis-minded physician because they are likely to know which tests will be most appropriate; it usually depends on your specific symptoms and illness. And your results will enable your healthcare practitioner to design and administer the most effective therapeutic program to improve your health and well-being.
